It is certainly not llkeiy that the 2010-2011 seasonal flu vaccine would be the cause of tinnitus. There are many reasons for tinnitus but the flu vaccine is not one of them. According to the CDC possible adult side effects from an inactivated flu vaccination or injection are:Mild problems:*soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given*fever, aches*hoarseness; sore, red or itchy eyes; coughIf these problems occur, they usually begin soon after the shot and last 1-2 days.Severe problems*High fever, behavior changes.*Severe allergic reactionIn my experience as a nurse, I have never known a patient to have tinnitus as a complication of the flu vaccination. In medicine, nothing is impossible, but it is highly unlikely that there is a correlation between the flu vaccination and ringing in the ears. What has more llkeiy happened, is a coincidence: whereby, you got a flu shot and some type of ear condition around the same time but one did not cause the other. If you continue to experience problems, you should contact your physician. Furthermore, since 1986 there is actually a National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program where you can file a claim if you believe that you may have been injured as the result of a vaccination in the United State. This was a result of the 1976 Swine flu vaccination which resulted in cases of Guillain-Barre’ Syndrome. As you may know, prior to receiving the flu shot, you are always asked if you have a cold, fever, or infection. If you do, you will be asked to come back in 2 weeks and have the vaccination administered as it is never given if you are already ill.FOLLOWUP: The first response on here is specifically addressed toward an infection, rather than the vaccination you received. One, has absolutely nothing to do with the other, scientifically. She suffers symptoms of tinnitus as the result of an ear infection, not the 2010-2011 flu vaccination. There is no statistically signifigant research that would indicate that your tinnitus is a result of receiving the flu vaccination. There are many other side effects noted above, but tinnitus is simply not one of them.I have encountered Jeff’s response often also. He may not be familiar with the Spanish flu Pandemic during WWI in 1918 which quickly spread across the globe. It began in 1917 ending in 1920 with an outbreak of encephalitis. 50-100 million people or 3% of the world’s population died while 1/4 of the world’s population was infected. People are often fooled by the term, flu. Flu causes pneumonia, brain tissue conditions. Over 43,000 of our GI’s died from the Spanish flu rather than war! So when someone believes precautionary vaccines are crap, (I am assuming he means nonsense; drivel, falsehood, exaggeration, propaganda, refuse; rubbish; junk; litter, rather than the literal meaning) it may be wise to look back and understand that without intervention, history tends to repeat itself! Post Industrial society has become so spoiled, that the younger generation often loses sight of how difficult and cruel life could be in times gone by. I myself have friends who were stricken by polio. If you ask them, they will tell you, they would have done anything to have been immunized by a vaccination .

That is a very comprehensive reply, however, everyone knows that vaccines sometimes contain substances that are bad for people including mercury. Vaccines are not at all that and a bag of chips. There’s plenty of research out there suggesting that extra items are added to vaccines. If extra toxic substances are added, it would be logical that they might cause side effects. Therefore, it is not implausible that vaccines could cause ringing ears. We just don’t know.

At the writing of this comment, the centers for disease control has reported a popular vaccine suggested for teenagers The HPV vaccine is ineffective and actually causing health problems. I feel like we can’t trust vaccines until they’ve been vetted.
